Welcome to the website for the South Jersey Youth Outdoor Day. This totally FREE event is held annually on the third Saturday in August. Its purpose is to provide an opportunity for beginners to learn about and try out various outdoor sports without having to buy any of the equipment or supplies. No selling or solicitation is done at this event (except for organizations recruiting new members). The event is based in Salem County, but is open to kids from all of South Jersey. We encourage kids who have attended in previous years to allow other kids who have never been to this event to participate in it. Our next event will
be held
on Saturday, AUGUST 20, 2016 at
the
Salem County Sportsmen's Club in Carney's Point. The times of the
event are 8:30 am to 2:00 pm,
with registrant check-in beginning at
8:00 am. This event is
open
to all kids ages 7 through 17. All kids must be accompanied by a
parent or guardian, who will be responsible for their
supervision. Participation
is limited to
the first 200
kids registered. You
must register in advance. No same-day registrations will be
accepted. ACTIVITIES Registering for the event: When the registration period begins on July 1, you register for this event by sending an email note with your information. Use the link on the lefthand portion of this screen to go to instructions for this process. It is very important that you follow the proper format for the information in your email, especially the birth date. Your information will be entered into a database, then be printed on a form and that form will be brought to the event. Note that participation is limited to the first 200 kids registered. You must register in advance, so that we can properly estimate the amount of food and supplies required. Morning of the event: The main event area will be fenced off in the morning, just beyond the clubhouse. Participants are not permitted in the fenced-in area until the official 8:30 am start time. In the morning, the registration check-in table will be located at the clubhouse and the range safety sessions will be conducted inside the clubhouse. After parking, you should proceed to the registration check-in table. At the registration table you'll sign the printed copy of your registration form. Also at the
registration
check-in table, each participant will receive an event
activity card with a lanyard. This card is to be worn from the
participant's neck. In addition, each participant will receive a
set of hearing protection (ear plugs) -- these are to be used
throughout the day for all firearm activities. During the day,
after
the completion of certain
activities (shooting sports, archery,
canoeing/kayaking), the card will be marked so we know who has done an
activity
at least once. Participants will not be
allowed to do these activities a second time if there are others in
line who have not yet done the activity. REMINDERS TRASH &
